2020 Summer junior lacrosse

Lacrosse Victoria is excited to announce a summer 2020 Junior 6v6 competition. This competition will be facilitated within all COVID-19 rules and regulations from State and Local Government. We hope to see you out on the grounds in a few weeks!

Dates:

  • Junior Boys Saturday 14 November – Saturday 19 December
  • Junior Girls Sunday 15 November – Sunday 20 December

Locations:

2020 Annual General Meeting

The 2020 Annual General Meeting will be held on 11th November 2020 at 7:30pm.

Due to current circumstances, the meeting will held via Zoom. Club members can attend from the comfort of home.

An email will be sent to all full club members on 8th November with the annual report and a link to the zoom meeting along with instructions for how to participate.

Any parents or associate members (juniors) who wish to attend may contact the president (president@clclax.org.au) for the meeting link.

Our players interviewed on Smash FM

Smash FM (www.smashfm.com.au), one of Victoria's leading community radio stations, got in touch with our club to interview some of our on-field stars.

Top of that list was Grace Mackie and Tristan Thomas.

Grace is our reigning female best and fairest winner and marquee player for Camberwell's 2020 début season in State League.

Tristan is one of our most dangerous attack players and was leading goal scorer for the 2019 season.

2020 fees refunded

Camberwell Lacrosse Club is pleased to announce that all fees paid for the 2020 season have been refunded in full. Refunds were made via our payment provider Square and should be back in your account. Please contact membership @clclax.org.au if there are any concerns with the refund.

A major factor in our club remaining viable and not needing to charge fees is that our usual major season expenses, the Lacrosse Victoria fees and Boroondara Council grounds charges, are not being charged for 2020.

2020 Winter Season Cancelled

As a result of the COVID19 restrictions that are in place, Lacrosse Victoria has announced that the 2020 winter season has been cancelled. While Camberwell Lacrosse Club is disappointed, we support the decision that has been made.

The Club Committee has made the decision to refund all fees that have been paid for the 2020 season. The refund transactions will be initiated during July and August. The Club remains financially viable due to careful management of funds in the past.

June COVID Update

"Community sport for kids and non-contact competition for adults can proceed as planned." (Premier's statement)

This means that training will continue next week as for the past 3 weeks, with training being broken up into groups of no more than 20. However training can now be competitive for juniors.

These arrangements should continue into the School holidays, but watch for any alterations as requirements are changing all the time.

Camberwell Lacrosse Heading for Women's State League

Camberwell Lacrosse is excited to announce that it intends to field a team in Lacrosse Victoria's Women's State League competition in 2020.

After a stellar season last year winning the 2019 A Grade premiership, the time is right to step up to the highest level of club lacrosse in Australia. This is the first time in its history that Camberwell will have competed at this level of women’s lacrosse.

Bring a Friend

Camberwell Lacrosse Club is restarting our Bring a Friend program to encourage our players to introduce someone to lacrosse. We would love players of all ages to bring their friends to give them the chance to experience the best sport in the world.

Every player who brings a friend to training will get a ticket into a draw to win a new, high quality lacrosse stick. Bring two friends, get two tickets. Bring you whole class and your chances increase dramatically.

Training in June

Good news! Training will commence next week, starting Tuesday 2nd June.

Our conditions of use are very strict and require maximum group size of 20, strict hygiene of equipment, hand sanitising and social distancing. All participants must read the following.

Register now, training will start soon

Summary:

Wash your hands and sanitise
Use your own equipment
Train with a maximum of 20 players per zone
Maintain social distance of 1.5 metres
"Get in, train, get out"

Camberwell Lacrosse Club is currently working to bring back lacrosse for 2020. We are waiting for the all-clear from Boroondara Council and the Return to Play Agreement to be signed off.

When club training does return there will be a number of key conditions (to be confirmed in full later):
