U12 Girls v Footscray Green @ Eric Raven
Another great effort from our U12's today taking on the top of the table Footscray outfit. Captain of the day Charlotte P led with her best game yet - in great position and fighting hard for loose balls along with Amelia and Genevieve. Charlotte L's determination to win the ball was outstanding, and Mia and Lacey lifted their game once again and were everywhere - scoring goals but more importantly working hard back into defence again and again. The Footscray 1 v 1 defence was the toughest we've played, and I was impressed with the way the team responded - certainly lots of learnings from this game! Our Player of the Game Hudson was no surprise to anyone though - as goalie he made save after save, some from point blank range - a superb effort!
Well done everyone - we have the next two weeks off for the school holidays (games and training), however as the U16's, 18's and seniors will continue to train you are always welcome to pop down on Thursday for some extra training if you like! See you all back for training on Thursday July 14th!
Game Result: Camberwell 9 - FLC Green 16
B Grade women v Brunswick @ Fleming Park
It was a committed 11 that took on Brunswick today in the cold and wet - with illness reducing our core numbers we were once again bolstered by a large group of U16 and U18's playing their second game for the day! The game was close in the first half, with a 1 goal differential at half time - Laura and Amelie dominated the centre clearances, but Brunswick took any opportunity to capitalise on our lack of communication in defence despite save after save from Rachael in goal. Half time provided the chance to reset that we needed, and with Georgia leading the defence we were able to deflect the Brunswick transition game and send the ball back the other way through some grit running by Eva, Emma and Laura. Some crucial goals towards the end from Sophia and Emma sealed the deal - in the end a super game from everyone! Congratulations to Siena on her first senior game, and to our best on ground Emma, Laura and Rachael!
