Match Reports 26-27 May 2012

Under 14 Boys

Camberwell 20 def. Knox 3

Knox had yet to post a win so there was an opportunity for us to work on team skills and bring others into play instead of relying on the usual suspects.

With three on the bench the mid-field was changed frequently enabling a fast pace to be maintained. Goals scored by Colin (#19), Gus (#24), Tommy (#17) and four to Lincoln (#7). Combined with a shut out by Ben (#13) in the cage, we ran up seven for the first quarter.

Division 3 Men's

Camberwell 14 def Moreland 10

For the 2nd time is as many rounds we faced Moreland away. The team looked very much like the U16 team with a few senior ringers, mostly in defence. The midfield and attack had only 2 seniors.

Division 2 Men's

Camberwell 22 def Eltham 3

After our first win last week, the Division 2 team ventured to Eltham. The opposition had no bench and we had 4, so it was looking good. We started well, racing to a 6-0 lead in the first quarter.

In the second, Eltham seemed to have figured out our attack plan and while they were not able to catch up, we did not manage to extend the lead by much. At half time, Bruce and Adam decided to go to 2-2-2 formation and this seemed to have opened the flood gates.

Match Reports 5-6 May 2012

Under 16 Boys

Camberwell 7 def by Eltham-MCC 14

For round 3 we travelled to Albert Park to face a combined Eltham-MCC team. Our opposition was an experienced squad, with mostly 2nd year U16 veterans and boasting the best centre in the competition. We were missing 2 of our midfielders and our best face off guy and were therefore expecting an uphill battle.

Getting there

Please note that the Google map on Lacrosse Victoria’s website is slightly wrong. Please enter the Epsom Huntly Recreation Reserve directly from Midland Hwy a few meters past Carsons Rd. DO NOT use Carsons Rd. and, in reality, Sargent Rd does not exist.

The recreation complex is 1.9 km (on the left hand side) past the Howard St intersection, heading north out of Bendigo on the Midland Hwy.

Referee Accreditation Set

The Australian Lacrosse Referees Association (ALRA) Victoria has scheduled two single evening sessions for this year’s referee accreditation. One on May 2nd at Kangan Batman TAFE Broadmeadows Campus and another on May 9th at Monash University Caulfield Campus.

The evening event includes a forum with ALRA referees and a test for aspirants and seasoned overseers, whose two-year accreditation has expired. Referees who took their accreditation last year will also need to undergo the reaccreditation “due to new rule changes.”
