Welcome to Season 2012

Welcome to 2012. We hope everyone had a Happy New Year and is refreshed and ready for season 2012.

The field lacrosse season starts on April 14, 2012. The MILL indoor competition will be starting for both Juniors and Seniors on Monday February 6th.

The coaching situation has not yet been finalised for 2012. We are currently negotiating with an experienced coach and hope to make an important announcement in the next few weeks. Matt Kerr senior will be the senior coach in the interim period. Please make an effort to support Matt by getting stuck into pre-season training.

Pre-Season Training – Senior Men

Training will start on Thursday January 19th at Dorothy Laver Reserve at 6pm.

Matt Kerr will be running pre-season training. The initial emphasis will be on building up fitness. Training will continue on Thursdays for the next few weeks.

Overseas Players

As mentioned last year, we are likely to have several overseas players this year. One Canadian player, Chris Jones has already arrived in Melbourne. Here is some information from Chris:

"I am a 20 year old from Pitt Meadows, British Columbia (just outside of Vancouver). I play both box lacrosse and field lacrosse.

I play Junior A lacrosse (highest ranked junior grade and the feeder program to the Canadian semi pro league and the NLL) for the Delta Islanders.

I am about to go into my last year of junior lacrosse.

Last year I was on the field lacrosse team for British Columbia and we came 2nd in Canadian Nationals.

I am here in Australia to travel as well and would love to try to play and help teaching kids lacrosse, especially some of the indoor skills."

Welcome on board Chris.
