Camberwell’s Mighty Girls

Our Under 15 Girls concluded a great season last Sunday despite going down 10-5 in an entertaining elimination final clash with Williamstown.  Saskia Hollenkamp was the stand-out player with 4 goals, well supported by Veronica Pirozek and Poppy Ashby.  All of the girls contributed and the strong dodging of Anastasia Parnos and ground-ball work of first-year player Jordan Le Blanc was a highlight.

After the game, coaches Chris and Georgia Downie told the group how proud they were of the progress made by individuals and the team as the season unfolded.  Along the way, our girls beat every team in the competition but just could not get past the greater experience of a powerful Williamstown opposition in the semi-final.

More than half of the team still qualify for Under 15’s in 2018 while those graduating will give Camberwell a solid core in a standalone Camberwell Under 17 team for next year.
